Welcome to the Richard Vaughan Badminton Academy supported by Memory Lane Cakes, an elite group of young aspiring Olympic Badminton players coached by former World No 7 Richard Vaughan from Cardiff, Wales.

Richard Vaughan
The RVBA is directed by Double Olympian and former World No7 from Wales. Richard is supported by former National Chinese Team player Zhu Min, former Irish Olympic Coach Donal O Halloran, former World No32 Dr Piret Vaughan,  former top British junior Liam Ingram and Top Scottish player Alistair Casey. Top Sports Physio Leon Vaughan MSc provides physio support in the form of injury prevention programmes based around core stability exercises, in addition to the treatment of injuries.

The Richard Vaughan Badminton Academy (RVBA) is an idea of my first coach Don Griffiths and I, to help young Badminton players achieve their goals. We share the same vision of helping young talent develop to produce British Olympians of the future to follow in my footsteps. I have had many successes as a professional Badminton player and I feel the time has come to start to pass on my knowledge and experience in addition to young British talent.

The group of players currently contains numerous British age group Badminton Champions, and Welsh National Badminton Champions. The aim for these players is to transfer this success to International success on the World stage. Helping Badminton Wales reach new heights.

Sarah Thomas and Tim Stranks of the Richard Vaughan AcademyThe RVBA is proudly supported by numerous local businesses and we would like to thank Memory Lane Cakes, Accounting Software Direct, FD Systems, Sotx, and Head for their continued support. The Cardiff 10km is a regular RVBA fund raising event for various charities including the RVBA Official Charity, the World Wildlife Foundation.

Former British Olympic coach and coach to Richard Vaughan, Lee Jae Bok commented “Having worked with Richard throughout his career I have no doubt he will have all the skills required to produce good technical players and more importantly help move these players successfully through the transition from junior to senior badminton. He has a great understanding of technique from a Chinese/Korean perspective while benefiting from European people, and management skills. Badminton Wales is very lucky to have such a coach”.

England’s Head Coach Ian Wright commented “I have had the pleasure of working with Richard for a long period of time over which I have been greatly impressed with his technical knowledge of the game, and I am confident in his endeavours in coaching”.
